ABOUT CHERTSEY

Chertsey is a medieval town in Surrey and one of the oldest towns in England, Chertsey developed around Chertsey Abbey founded in 666. Until the mid 19th century, Chertsey remained a strongly rural community dependent on agriculture, market gardening and a long established tradition of tile and brick-making.

Chertsey today is an attractive town, managing to combine its traditional architecture and identity with a wide range of modern facilities. It is a charming, prosperous town surrounded by beautiful countryside and preserved some of the best Georgian architecture in Surrey.

Chertsey's historic centre has been sympathetically redeveloped to incorporate many changes and improvements without losing its history and identity.
